- December Site of the Month
December often means inclement weather and increased holiday travel in Ohio. These two circumstances often result in hazardous driving conditions across the state. This month, Discover Ohio is featuring two sites created by the Ohio Department of Transportation to help motorists prepare for winter driving. Ohio Winter Driving – Survival Tips and Information provides advice on how to prepare for winter driving, how to drive safely in winter conditions, and what to do if stranded in a snow storm. ODOT’s Home Page features a Road and Weather section that allows motorists to access travel information by city, county, or region throughout the state. The helpful information on each of these sites can play a vital role in insuring that you enjoy safe traveling during the holiday season and throughout the winter. Happy holidays! - November Site of the Month
November’s site of the month is Ohio History Central. Ohio History Central is an on-line encyclopedia of Ohio’s natural history, prehistory, and history published by the Ohio Historical Society. The two installments posted to date provide a wealth of information, images, timelines, maps, and documents about Ohio’s geography, geology, animals, and American Indian populations. Ohio History Central can be accessed from the Ohio History and Ohio Facts submenus of Discover Ohio, or it can be accessed directly at http://www.ohiokids.org/ohc/index.html.
